4.1 Only eligible Application Packages that have been received from or on behalf of an eligible Applicant will be reviewed and considered. An Application Package that does not comply with these Terms and Conditions may be disqualified.

4.2 A jury chosen by Miles Nadal Community Centre, Reelabilities, and CBC (the “Jury”) will evaluate the Submissions received by midnight on August 1, 2017. Criteria to be considered by the Jury when assessing Submissions will include the quality of the Submission and the quality of the writing. The chances of being selected as a Fund Recipient will depend on the number of Application Packages received and the quality of the Submissions. All decisions will be made in the sole discretion of the Jury.

4.3 The grand total amount of money to be shared amongst Fund Recipients will not exceed $10,000. After deliberation, the Jury shall choose one or more Fund Recipient(s) (if any) and agree upon the allocation among the successful Submissions. In any case, the maximum single cash award will be $2,000 for treatments and $10,000 for screenplays. In the case of insufficient demand, any amounts not awarded will be placed in the Fund’s reserve.

4.4 Selected Fund Recipients will be notified by phone and/or email, at the telephone number and/or email address provided on the Application Form and will have five (5) days to accept the award and to execute the required Release Forms, failing which the award will be deemed forfeited and the Jury may grant all or part of the forfeited award to another Applicant, and/or place any awarded amounts in the Fund’s reserve.

4.5 Fund recipients will be announced on or about September 15, 2017 via the Website as well as at http://www.cbc.ca/breakingbarriers/ and such other outlets as the Miles Nadal Community Centre, Reelabilities, and CBC deem appropriate.

4.6 While compliance with these Terms and Conditions is a prerequisite to eligibility for funding, compliance does not guarantee entitlement to funds. Neither Reelabilities, the Miles Nadal Community Centre, nor CBC shall have any obligation to notify or contact unsuccessful Applicants, nor shall they be liable for any loss of opportunity as a result of being unable to contact an Applicant by phone or email, nor any responsibility to any Applicant who provides incorrect contact information, an incomplete or illegible Application Package.

4.7 Before being granted funding, the selected Applicant will be required to read, approve and sign a release form (the “Fund Recipient Release Form”) agreeing that their name, image and/or voice may be used for any promotional purposes related to this Fund free of charge; and releasing Reelabilities, the Miles Nadal Community Centre and CBC, as well as their respective directors, officers, agents and employees, from all liability for any damages or loss arising from participation in this Fund or from the awarding, acceptance or use of the funds awarded.

4.8 The names and identity of the Applicants and Fund Recipients may be announced or displayed on the Website as well as on any Reelabilities, Miles Nadal Community Centre and/or CBC website or microsite, or other media in such party’s discretion.
